Basil Rathbone appears for the first time as the invincible Sherlock Holmes and says the (now classic) line 'Quick Watson, the needle!'. Holmes is called in when Sir Charles Baskerville seemingly falls prey to the family curse: a hell-hound which is said to haunt the moors of Devon. However, rather than investigate personally, Holmes opts to send his trusted colleague Doctor Watson to take up residence at Baskerville Hall, in an attempt to get to the bottom of the mystery. But what will Holmes be up to in his friend's absence?
