Tough, two-fisted truck driver Lincoln Hawk (Stallone) is a survivor: a man who holds his own against the biggest and brawniest arm-wrestlers in the country. But when his estranged wife (Susan Blakely) dies, leaving his 12-year-old son in the custody of his wealthy father-in-law (Robert Loggia), Hawk's muscles are useless against a powerhouse of money and lawyers.
