The war's over but ex-POW Lt. Lawrence Gerard (Dick Powell) has a score to settle and he doesn't mean to do things by the book. His bride was in the French resistance; she was one of fifty freedom fighters murdered by shadowy Vichy collaborator Marcel Jarnac.
